Iran futsal wins Thailand tournament

Iran's national futsal squad has defeated Argentina 3-1 to win the championship at a four-sided tournament currently being held in Thailand.

The Iranian team, coached by Hossein Shams, thrashed the Argentinean side at the Centara Hotel and Resort in Udon Thani on Saturday.

Earlier, the Iranian outfit overpowered Uzbekistan 2-1 and host Thailand 4-3 in the event.

Iran, nine time champion of the Asian Futsal Championship, is preparing itself for the 2010 Asian Championship to be held in Tashkent, Uzbekistan from May 23-30.

The Iranian national team has displayed brilliant performances which resulted in Iran being voted the most impressive team of the 2008 Grand Prix de Futsal tournament held in Brazil.
