News WalesBrazilian-style football for Anglesey16/4/2010Leisure centres on Anglesey are catching up with the great game and introducing FUTSAL to their centres.
Late last year saw David Hughes Leisure centre launch the game thanks to funding from the Community Chest Grant.
£1000 has now been awarded to each of Plas Arthur, Amlwch and Holyhead leisure centres to introduce the sport.
FUTSAL is an indoor football game that is played on hard-court surface determined by lines; walls are not used, and the a ball is smaller enabling players to develop on more technical skills.
Gus Williams, Football Development Officer for Anglesey County Council said ‘ this is fantastic news that the opportunity to play this sports is stretched to other leisure centres for others across Anglesey to give it a go.’
The game will be ran initially through the 5 x 60 schemes with local secondary schools, with the aim then to create an adult league for local communities to take part too.
The Community Chest fund is open to sports and physical activity clubs that require help with a project or new initiative.
