BORO 3 MANCHESTER 4

Middlesbrough lost their second successive home game 4-3 to league leaders Manchester on Sunday at Thornaby Pavilion. It was a must win game for Middlesbrough if they were to repeat their playoff appearance of 2009, but Manchester have the playoffs in their sight and finished the game off in the first half.

Despite trailing 4-0 at half time, Middlesbrough fought back in the second half with a goal from Paul Smith and two penalties from Robbie Bettson but it wasn’t enough to overturn the four goal deficit, though it did restore some element of pride.

Manager Damon Shaw was philosophical in defeat and reckons Manchester can be the first team from the North to win the playoffs.

“They were the best team we’ve played, on both occasions, and I think they will go into the playoffs with a good chance of the title. We’ve now got to finish the season as strongly as we can and pick up as many points as we can. It might not be enough to finish in the top two, but we have to do our bit and hope Sheffield or Manchester drop points.”

Tranmere Victoria make the journey to Teesside for this weekend’s match and you can watch the Boro for only £1. Tickets cost £2 for adults and £1 for kids with a family ticket costing £4. They can be bought online at BoroFutsal.com or you can pay on the day. The doors open at 1pm and kick off is at 2pm at Thornaby Pavilion.
