UEFA organizes flight for Araz futsal club

UEFA The European football authorities have arranged a special flight to take Azerbaijani club side Araz Nakhchivan to the Futsal Cup finals in Portugal.

Araz are to play their semi-final against UEFA Futsal Cup holders Interviu Madrid in Lisbon on Friday.

The cloud of volcanic ash sweeping over Europe has caused major disruption to flights.

The Azerbaijani football federation, AFFA, held talks with UEFA about the special flight, AFFA reported.

Azerbaijan's national futsal team made a real breakthrough when they reached the UEFA European Futsal Championship semi-finals in January, but Araz Nakhchivan, the club that made up the bulk of the squad and shares the same coach, Brazil's Alecio, had already reached the semis of the UEFA Futsal Cup.
