BAYSIDE Eagles cemented their spot at the top of Queensland Winter Futsal League alongside Gold Coast Tigers after beating enthusiastic Beenleigh 4-2 at the Beenleigh Arena on Friday night.

With the score 1-1 at half-time, the match turned physical in the second half as the tempo to keep each team’s unbeaten record intact quickened.

Eagles jumped to a 3-1 lead when Justin Morrison and Jamie Haines found the back of the net.

Beenleigh launched multiple counter-attacks which paid off with three minutes to go in the match, leaving them one goal short 2-3.

As Beenleigh pressed in the last three minutes trying to find the equaliser, a late goal to leading goal scorer Greg Stekiewicz in the final minutes sealed the win for Bayside.
