Mazwin Nik AnisPUTRAJAYA: Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak will lead a team of ministers at the futsal challenge held in conjunction with the National Youth Day 2010 celebration, to be held here next week.
The May 14-16 celebration is expected to see over 200,000 youth from all over the country converge in Putrajaya to take part in 88 events to suit varied interests.
The Prime Minister’s team will include Youth and Sports Minister Datuk Seri Shabery Cheek, Agriculture and Agro-based Minister Datuk Noh Omar, Minister in the Prime Minister’s Department Datuk Seri Jamil Khir Baharom and Federal Territory and Urban Wellbeing Minister Datuk Raja Nong Chik Raja Zainal Abidin.
Shabery said Najib had sportingly agreed to play in a futsal match on May 15, which was among a list of activities held to honour Malaysian youths, adding the Prime Minister would launch the National Youth Day 2010 celebration in Putrajaya Internatinal Convention Centre (PICC) earlier the same day.
He said several of team members, had been “warming up, doing stretches and practising for the match”, adding that several deputy ministers, including his deputies Datuk Razali Ibrahim and Datuk Wee Jeck Seng, would also be participating in the event.
“It will be interesting and exciting for our youth to watch the Prime Minister and ministers play futsal. The Prime Minister has jokingly reminded me to have a medical team on standby,” he said.

The futsal competition will be held in the newly-constructed Putrajaya Futsal complex located in Precinct 18.
It will would be opened by Sultan of Pahang and president of Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) Sultan Ahmad Shah on May 8.
