Hartpury 6 - 6 Team BathIn a grudge match between two old foes the two University based sides produced an absolute classic. Bath keen to start well did exactly that moving the ball confidently and creating half chances. Within 3 miutes Bath went 2-0 up with goals from Captain Parkes and another from Ingram who received a Yilmaz pass. Things only got better early on for Bath as Sam Dorin scored a wonderful individual goal beating his marker and cutely dinking the ball over the onrushing goal keeper into the top corner.
Hartpury tried to introduce their goal keeper as an extra attacking weapon forcing Bath to retreat, althought risky they pulled a goal back where Bath allowed an attacker to turn and toe poke the ball home on the angle. However, almost instantly Bath made it 4-1 as Dorin scored another at the back post after Bath won the ball high in the Hartpury half after Landau had pinched the ball.
Bath needed to now control the game but in the last 5 minutes of the half gave too many fouls away and Hartpury scored a 10m penalty. Then in the last minute Hartpury scored a scrappy goal to make it 4-3 to Bath at half time but momentum very much with Hartpury.
Hartpury continued to push forward and made it 4-4 and then went 5-4 up within 5 minutes of the restart. Jones swapped with Dix in goal who continued Jones good work wth some top saves but was helpless with the 4th goal that was scored on the break and dinked over him. The 5th for Hartpury was also a poor goal as Bath failed to clear a loose ball that was tucked away.
To Bath's credit they kept trying to play and began gaining territory and fouls with Morgan going close on the angle. Hartpury then gave away a 10m penalty and instead of shooting Parkes squared the ball to Kitson to score into an empty net to level the game up. Bath now resurgent pushed on and Parkes hit the post from a 10m and Kitson chipped Tassel in the Hartpury goal only to see the shot rebound off the post. Finally, Humphries found Kitson who set Parkes to score and take Bath in front. Bath now defending hard had 2 minutes to survive. With only 25 seconds left Bath didnt close the Hartpury goal keeper who shot from distance, the shot took a slight deflection and nestled in the Bath goal to make the final score 6-6.
It was a high drama hig quality Futsal game and in the long run this could be a massive point in Bath's push for the play offs.
