Kurukuru will continue dominance at OFC meet

Friday, 07 May 2010

KURUKURU national futsal squad team captain Elliot Ragomo has reassured local fans that Kurukuru will retain their crown as Oceania victors, as they prepare for the OFC championships in Fiji in July.

Ragomo said that with the inclusion of new players they will continue their unbeaten run as the defending champions.

“Kurukuru have always been a team to watch in any regional tournament and we will continue to set the standard as we prepare for the OFC championships”, the Kurukuru captain said.

He added that the team has some new faces but he was confident that they would perform and show why they deserved a place in the national team.

The national 16 member side after releasing their final squad a few weeks ago had some omissions replaced by new recruits and former players.

Two long time members of the squad Francis Lafai and Alick Lioka Jnr were omitted and replaced by Coleman Makau and Georeg Stevenson.

Both caught the eyes of selectors during the Our Telekom National Futsal Championships in March.

Former Kurukuru members Lenson Bisili and Samuel Osifelo were also two others who have got themselves places again in this year’s team.

To add more fire to the fuel, Robert Laua has also been included in the national side.

Meanwhile, Ragomo added that training has been great for the team and he spoke highly of the new inclusions in the team after showing great skill and professionalism during their trainings.

“We are an unbeaten team and we will continue our dominance in futsal in the region”, he said.
