Brunei DirectSCBRC Friendly Futsal Match Ends In A DrawThursday, 13 May 2010Bandar Seri Begawan - The Standard Chartered Bank Recreational Club (SCBRC) recently organised a friendly futsal match between the bank's staff, which was held at the JKR Hanger Hall, Old Airport Berakas.
The match was a clash of big names as SCB personnel organised themselves into two well-known teams - Liverpool FC and Manchester United - which also saw the remaining staff who were present, split into two different factions as they supported their favourite team, a press release said.
The match was also used as good opportunity for SCB to unveil its new Liverpool FC shirts, which also carry the Bank's logo. After a well-played match, the final score ended up in a 6 - 6 draw. SCB's friendly futsal matches are scheduled to take place once a month.
"The match was really fun. This is one of many ways for us to engage with our colleagues outside of work. It's also a great opportunity to get to know new colleagues from other departments," said Hj Md Mrherman Hadaffi Hj Omar, from the Credit Service Unit of the Bank who also played in the match.
The SCBRC is run by a selected committee of staffthat organize extra-curricular activities from trips and sports to competitions and friendly gatherings. SCB encourages all its employees to have a healthy work life balanced with taking the time to engage in activities with their colleagues in order to develop a more effective working relationship.
SCB recently announced the launch of the new Standard Chartered branded 2010 season Liverpool FC shirts. The new shirts will ensure Standard Chartered's logo and trust mark will be visible around the world, and will be a key component of the bank's international brand build-out through 2010, in conjunction with the Bank's 'Here for good' brand campaign.
Standard Chartered signed a four-year deal to be the main sponsor of the Liverpool Football Club from the beginning of the 2010/11 season, which will officially commence on the July 1. With a comprehensive rights package, sponsorship of the iconic football club will provide a platform to significantly accelerate the Bank's brand awareness across its core markets in Asia, Africa and the Middle East.
