Rovers 3:2 Blue Magic

Rovers futsal team started their new season with an impressive 3-2 victory over Blue Magic FC on Saturday, May 22, at the BRL Umbro Arena, Ballymun.

Irish international Ian Byrne was on fire for the Hoops with a brilliant second half treble as the Hoops started the defence of their Emerald Futsal League (Leinster) crown with three points.

Blue Magic, the beaten finalists in the recent FAI Futsal Cup, are considered one of the teams to beat in this competition and they had beaten Rovers 1-0 in the qualifying round of the FAI competition.
Captain Byrne had scored twice before Artur Opeldus pulled one back with a free-kick and after Byrne clinched his hat-trick Opeldus scored again to ensure an exciting finish.
