Guam Pacific Daily NewsMasters take out Guahan: Scott records hat trick to pace dck's victoryBy
Jan AquinoMay 29, 2010The dck Masters handed the young Guahan.com team a 7-2 loss in the Guam Football Association Bud Light Women's Futsal League last night at the GFA outdoor futsal court.
Masters' Rachel Scott sent a message to the young Guahan team as she clocked in the fastest goal of the match, scoring in the first minute of play.
After a short back-and-forth scuffle, Masters' Tiffany Camacho notched the second goal in the third minute of the match. Guahan would hold the Masters down for the rest of the first half, keeping them at only two goals. Guahan, meanwhile, had several attempts to attack the goal, but none were successful as the Masters goalkeeper Cara Walsh would not allow any easy goals.
The second half showed no sign of fatigue for either side, even though Guahan played with only five players.
Attacking in the 27th minute, Scott extended the lead to 3-0. But Guahan's Christine Ubaldo was quick to respond, and her goal cut the Masters' lead to 3-1 in the 28th minute.
Both teams had several runs, although the Masters controlled the pace of the ball more often.
Guahan's Honoka Recella had a few shots on goal that were unsuccessful. A foul inside the goalkeeper's area gave Recella an opportunity for a penalty kick, but Walsh was quick to react and swatted the ball away.
Pauline Toves scored for the Masters with a nice flick of the ball that saw the top left of the goal, lifting her team to 4-1.
After a few failed attempts, Camacho weaved through several Guahan defenders and found teammate Eileen Flanagan for the Masters' fifth goal.
Guahan answered with another goal from Ubaldo. She sent one right past the goalkeeper to lift her team's spirits.
But Blanda Camacho ended the celebration, as she knocked in a goal with an assist from Scott in the 45th minute.
The final goal of the game came from Scott as she earned a hat trick in the 48th minute.
