Shamrock Rovers Official WebsiteRovers 3:0 Alpha FC29/05/10 Rovers maintained their solid start to the Emerald Futsal League (Leinster) with a 3-0 win over Alpha FC on Saturday, May 29th.
The Hoops, who lifted the inaugural title last season, produced a disciplined display to secure the three points at the BRL Umbro Arena in Ballymun.
Jack Doyle (pictured) grabbed the only goal of the first half when he drilled home from close range after Ian Byrne had struck the Alpha crossbar with a powerful strike.
Byrne was to have an unfortunate afternoon in relation to the Alpha woodwork as he struck his opponents upright twice more before the break.
Reinaldo Grube extended the Rovers lead early in the second half with a clever turn and finish.
Doyle wrapped up the victory with five minutes left with another well taken goal as the Hoops defence proved too tough a nut for Alpha to crack.
Rovers next face Academic FC on Saturday, June 12 at the BRL Umbro Arena in Ballymun (1pm).
SHAMROCK ROVERS: John Somers; John Fullam, Reinaldo Grube, Richard Maher, Cian McDonald, Jack Doyle, Ian Byrne, Hiago Freitas
