Iran Crowned as 2010 Asian Futsal Champions

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iran's futsal team clinched its tenth championship on Sunday after beating Uzbekistan 8-3 in the 11th AFC Futsal Championship in Tashkent.

The Kazakhs (Futsalplanet note: Uzbeks?) first scored 2 goals gladdening thousands of their fans at Uzbekistan Sports Complex but the Iranian team came back with 3 goals to end the first half in their favor.

Kazakhstan (Futsalplanet note: Uzbekistan!!) once again overtook the Iranians in scoring the first goal of the second half but the Iranian squad poured cold water on the hosts and dashed their dim hopes with 5 other goals to win the game 8-3.

Earlier on Sunday, Japan beat China 6-1 to stand in third place.

The Iranian side has only failed to win the tournament once in the last decade. Iran's showdown with Uzbekistan was the first time the two sides have met in the final of the tournament since 2001, when Iran eased to a 9-0 victory.
