Barnby Dunn are the South Yorkshire Primary Schools Futsal Cup champions02 June 2010The Sheffield & Hallamshire FA annual South Yorkshire Primary Schools Futsal Finals took place at Ponds Forge on Tuesday 25th May 2010.
The South Yorkshire Primary Schools Futsal Competitions sees 34 teams with an estimated 340 players from the districts within the Sheffield & Hallamshire FA region of Sheffield, Rotherham, Barnsley and Doncaster qualifying at area finals to then go on the annual final.
Two teams qualify for the final from each of the regional events. The eight finalists then battled it out over the day to win the title of South Yorkshire Primary School Futsal Champions 2010.
The finals were evenly contested with the overall winners being Barnby Dun Primary School from Doncaster. Killamarsh Primary School, Sheffield finished runners up.
The plate competition saw an all Barnsley final, with St Dominic’s Primary School being victorious over Dodworth St Johns.
Matt Handley, Sheffield & Hallamshire FA Football Development Officer Said “The South Yorkshire Primary Schools Futsal competitions are an established county wide event which is well received by all the players, teachers and parents. The event encourages a competitive platform for Futsal for year 4/5 boys. I would like to thank all the volunteers that have assisted with all the events held across the competition and to Darton School who supplied 4 students to support the finals at Ponds Forge.
