BernamaFormer Sarawak Player Killed In AccidentKUCHING, June 10 -- Former Sarawak state footballer Azwa Mahsin, 24, was killed in a tragic road accident at Batu 9, Jalan Kuching-Serian here early Thursday morning.
During the 3am incident, Azwa who was driving a Perodua Viva, was killed when his car lost control and rammed into a tree.
A 16-year-old teenage girl who was in the car when the accident happened, broke both her legs due to the impact and admitted to the Sarawak General Hospital for treatment. She was reported in stable condition.
Azwa from Kampung Demak Laut, had represented Sarawak in the Super League from 2006 to 2007.
The player who had since switched to futsal was expected to compete in a futsal competition in Penang later this month.
Azwa who worked as a security guard at Universiti Sarawak Malaysia (Unimas), had married six months ago and was expected to host his wedding reception together with his brother, next month.
