PLAY IN THE FA FUTSAL CUP

Middlesbrough Futsal Club are calling for local teams to enter the Tees Valley Futsal League for 2010-2011, even if it means jeopardising their five year hold on the title!

Boro, often playing a reserve side, have won the Tees Valley Futsal League five years in a row, without losing a game and are now hoping to increase the competition and get more and more people into futsal in the North East and give teams a shot at playing in The FA Futsal Cup.

It’s a perfect competition for teams from workplaces, universities, colleges and Sunday or Saturday league teams and it only costs £500 for the whole season (14 matches + 3 cup). Last season, the league had five teams but Boro are hoping to increase that to eight and maybe more with potentially two divisions in the future.

Boro chairman Damon Shaw is urging companies to take a slot in the league as a great way of advertising themselves and competing in a national competition.

“For £500 a company can get sustained coverage (on BoroFutsal.com, TheFA.com and local media) as well as a place in the league for their team, which, should they be successful could lead to a run in The FA Futsal Cup!”

“Futsal is growing rapidly and we want to develop the game regionally to help keep Middlesbrough a hotbed of futsal talent. Once in the Tees Valley Futsal League players have the chance to progress into the national league and even the England team as we’ve seen in the past.”

Although the league doesn’t kick off until November, there are only three spaces available so it is important to register your interest early and reserve your place.
