Courtesy: GoalIT Futsal Festival: Football Is Great Way To Refresh Your Mind After A Hectic Day At Office - Webel ChiefWhat's the connection between IT and football...By Vaibhav AgarwalThe second edition of IT Futsal Festival was announced on Monday with Webel being one of the official sponsors of the event which will kickoff on 20th of this month at the Techno India Ground, Sector V, Salt Lake City, Kolkata. Goal.com's Vaibhav Agarwal caught up with Tamal Dasgupta, chairman of Webel, during the press launch of the 5-a-side tournament: Goal.com: How did this concept of 'IT meets Football' develop?Dasgupta: The IT sector in the state of West Bengal needs an opportunity to get away from the strenous work life that they have to go through everyday. Since Kolkata is a soccer-crazy city and the World Cup fever is on, this concept of IT meets football came about. This is a great opportunity for IT and football to meet and is a mode of refreshment for the IT professionals in the state. Plus, its just a way to have some pure informal fun. Add to that, the Indian team stars interacting with the IT employees on the field adds as a source of motivation.Goal.com: Since the IT professionals are wired to their work primarily, do you think football is a great way to destress?Dasgupta: I agree. I think football is a really great way to pull away from the everyday tasks and workload we, corporates, incur in office. Football is something which only refreshes your mind after a hectic day.Goal.com: Why did you choose to jin hands with the Football Players Association of India (FPAI)?Dasgupta: We have always associated ourselves with the FPAI and will continue doing so in the times to come. Like I said, with Indian team stars meeting and inspiring the IT employees on the pitch, it proves as a source of motivation for these professionals to interact with them. It feels great to associate ourselves with the FPAI. I have a feeling this festival and initiative will be a huge again this time round as well.Vaibhav: Thank You.
