New Straits TimesCarnival ends on a high note21/6/2010AMPANG: There was more to the Milo Hidup Bola Futsal Carnival season than the recent Grand Finals as a football gala party -- Jom Ceria -- was held for the 76 teams who had qualified for the Boys Under-12, Under-16 and Ladies Open.
Held at the de Palma Hotel, the gala party was a form of tribute to all the players and teams who had made the carnival a huge success.
It was a journey for junior futsal enthusiasts which started in February and held in all 14 states.
A total 1,400 teams took part in the fifth edition, making it the biggest junior futsal event in the country.
The Grand Finals were held on June 12 to ensure World Cup fever was very much part of the climax.
The Jom Ceria party the night before was an occasion for the finalists to relax, enjoy some great entertainment and watch the opening World Cup match between South Africa and Mexico.
The ballroom was packed some 1,000 players and supporters and they were entertained by performances by the Malaysian Drum Symphony, Malaysian Cheer Leaders group, Dr.Freestlyer -- Malaysia's top freestlye ball juggling champion, Shuan -- Malaysia's well known beat box entertainer and HMC Phlow -- a well known boy shuffle group.
