IT Futsal Festival: Watch Out For Acclaris!

Acclaris banking on Renedy magic...

The managing director of Acclaris, Mr.Kalyan Kar has been a pivotal figure behind organizing the entire IT Futsal Festival. He has left no stones unturned to ensure that the best players from his company represent the team at the competition.

The company doesn't have a strong football culture but they do conduct some intra-office leagues.
“We do not have a permanent football team but we do organize intra-office leagues. We have selected our team from those tournaments," said Kaushik Dey, who shall skipper the Acclaris side.
The team will be banking on the experience of their skipper who has earlier played in the Burdwan District league and also competed in the Subroto Cup tournament winning a cash prize of Rs. 10,000 back in 1992.
Some of the other key members in the Acclaris team are Biswadeep Choudhury and Moloy Saha.
The marquee player for Acclaris is Renedy Singh and Dey can't believe his luck at the prospect of having the Indian international has his team-mate.
“We are excited to play alongside Renedy Singh I believe he is one of the finest midfielders to have ever played on the Indian soil,” said Dey.

Acclaris have been grouped alongside Ernst & Young and Videocon

IT Futsal Festival: Sun Knowledge Ready To Shine

Kolkata’s IT major taking football seriously

The Sun Knowledge Systems is certainly one of the contenders for the second edition of the FPAI organized IT Futsal tournament because of their sheer passion for the beautiful game and hardwork.

Goal.com caught up with the team manager Mr Dipankar Chakrabarty.

Sharing his views on the team that they have, Mr Chakrabarty said, “We have got a balanced side with Sebastian Lin leading from the front. Other members includes Sujit Nayak, SK Nadeem and goalkeeper Jagannaath Ghosh.”

When quizzed about the team’s preparation the manager pointed out, “We have taken this tournament very seriously and we want to do well. We train regularly as we have practice sessions everyday in the morning from 5 30 am to 7 am.”

“Apart from this specialized training we regularly organize tournaments like inter department and inter floor to keep ourselves active in the field of football.”

Asim Biswas, the Chirag United forward and the former India international, will boost the chances of their team.

Speaking about the striker, team manager was quoted saying, “Asim Biswas who is a forward will add strength to our attacking line up. We were looking for a good striker and now that we have Asim Biswas there is no looking back," he concluded.

IT Futsal Festival: Former Semi-Finalists Looking To Better Their Performance

Price Waterhouse Coopers (PWC) ended up being semi-finalists in the pervious edition of the IT Futsal tournament organized by the Football Players Association of India (FPAI). The Professional services firm are looking to better their performance and thus win the competition.

“I think we are a bit under prepared due to the monsoons. We were not able to schedule ample practice matches but we shall give our best effort. Very recently, we went to the semis of a top corporate football event and are now looking to at least repeat our performance in the Futsal Festival," said captain Sanjib Basu.
When quizzed on how they balance their love for the beautiful game with work commitments, Basu said, “It is true the work load is always there and while working professionally you have to complete assignments on time. But still our love for football helps us manage both.”

PWC will have East Bengal youngster Budiram Tudu as their star I-League player and commenting on the same, Basu said,"It is good that we have a young talent like Tudu in our team. He played very well for East Bengal this season. We hope he can many goals for our team.”

PWC, who lost out to last year’s eventual champions Infinity in the last edition, are grouped along side DCPCL and Sun Knowledge

IT Futsal Festival: Fi-Tek Team Ready For Their Big Debut

Kolkata’s IT company geared up for their first football tournament

The 2nd edition of the IT Futsal Festival will certainly turn out to be an exciting event. With some big names registering for this top notch tournament, we shall also have a new company in the form of Fi-Tek making their debut in a corporate level soccer tournament.

While speaking to their manager Mr.Cecil Philips we came to know about their new found love for football. “This is our first football tournament representing our office team. We earlier used to play in corporate cricket tournaments only but now, we decided to field our football team.”

The team which consists of some of the key players in the Suman Saha and Shantanu Mitra who happens to be a software engineer will be led by their captain Ashok Jyoti Biswas who could be the oldest player on the pitch.

Speaking about their team captain the manager was quoted saying, “Our captain Ashok Jyoti Biswas is an M-tech from Bengal Engineering college and he used to be a very good footballer during his college days. He is 40 years old now and we will be banking on his experience.”

The team is yet to know about their star player as they were not keen to have Tushar Rakshit in their team as he happens to be a coach. Ironically Bhaichung Bhutia might end up playing alongside the Fi-Tek team.

Sharing his views on playing alongside a star player Mr.Philips agreed, “It is a proud moment for all of us to play alongside a footballer as I believe we shall learn a lot from them and they shall motivate us to do well in the tournament.”

The debutants have got no information on their opponents but are looking forward to a good time on the pitch.

IT Futsal Festival: Team Descon Elated After Splendid Victory

Deserving champions for the Futsal Festival

The IT Futsal Festival at the Techno India campus saw Descon emerge as champions upsetting big names like PWC, Videocon, Infinity and others. While they had to face some tough competitors, the team had enough talent to come out victorious in a fair manner.

Having India International defender Deepak Mondal as their star player in their team they looked favourites from the start itself. The team however went on to the knock out stages with out even using their star player Deepak Mondal.

For Descon, skipper Shantanu Guha and Partha Bakshi played extremely well although Deepak Mandal was later adjudged as the star player of the tournament.

First Round
Descon 3 – 0 IXIA
Descon 2 – 0 Globsyn

Quarter Finals
Descon 2 – 0 Fi-Tek

Semi Finals
Descon 2 – 0 Videocon

An Impressive Descon reached the finals without even conceding a single goal in the tournament. Their fine form continued as they clinched their maiden title after defeating Techno India by a 3-0 margin with Deepak Mondal playing a big role.

Descon’s Partha Bakshi was made the best player of the tournament.

Shortly after the match was over we caught up with the skipper of the team Mr. Shantanu Guha. Expressing his enjoyment he remarked, “We are very happy after winning this tournament. I must thank all our team members for their support. Deepak Mandal played excellently he played as if he was playing for the national team. This is our first major football tournament where we emerged as champions so it is very special.”

IT Futsal Festival: Descon Emerge As Champions Defeating Hosts Techno India In Finals

Deepak Mandal inspired team to hail as winners

21-Jun-2010The second edition of the IT Futsal Festival organized by the Football Players Association of India saw a massive response of as many as 12 IT corporate teams turning up for the tournament. West Bengal’s IT Minister Dr.Debesh Das kicked off the tournament involving more than 100 corporates from the city.

The opening match of the game saw Videocon emerge as winners from a crucial encounter against finance boys Ernst and Young. Price Water House Coopers showed their class when they blanked debutant FI-Tek by a 5-0 margin. Hosts Techno India too got into the act when they defeated Praxis by a whopping 9-0 margin.

After a well fought first round of matches the top two teams from each of the groups advanced to the quarter finals which was held after a lunch break.

The quarter finals saw PWC and Techno India continue their prime form as PWC emerged victorious against IXIA where as Techno India led by Chirag United defender Dulal Biswas crushed Acclaris by a 3-0 margin.

Defending Champions Infinity had defeated Videocon by a 3-1 margin but they were later disqualified by the organizers on grounds of fielding illegal players.

Only four teams advanced to the semi finals with PWC lining up against Techno India in ground one and Descon to play against Videocon on the ground two.

While Descon got the better of Videocon by a 2-0 margin to advance to the finals, a dispute in the 2nd Semi final saw PWC hand a walk over to Techno India to display their protest against some of their opponent's players.

The big final of the 2nd edition of the IT Futsal Festival left Techno India feeling the heat as a brilliant Deepak Mandal inspired the Descon team to win the match 3-0.

Deepak was made 'Star Player Of The Day'. Sanjeev Basu of PWC clinched the best 'Goalkeeper' award, while Techno India’s Abir Bakshi became the top 'Goalscorer' with 8 goals. Partho Baxi of Descon was the 'Most Valuable Player' of the tournament.
