BernamaFutsal Allocation To Uncooperative Opposition Governments Will Be WithdrawnPASIR PUTEH, July 4 (Bernama) -- The Youth and Sports Ministry will not hesitate to withdraw allocation for futsal courts in opposition states if they continue to be uncooperative.
Deputy Minister Datuk Razali Ibrahim said the allocation would then be distributed to states which agreed to approve sites, particularly Barisan Nasional (BN) states.
"The ministry had difficulty securing sites to build futsal courts in Kelantan and Penang," he said after opening Pasir Puteh Umno Youth delegates meeting here last night.
Razali who is also Umno Youth deputy chief said of the 90 courts approved for Kelantan last year, only 60 had been built.
"That too, they were built at schools and areas under South Kelantan Development Authority (Kesedar), a federal government agency.
He said a similar problem was encountered in Penang where of the 80 futsal courts proposed, only 11 had been built.
The ministry plans to build 1,178 courts nationwide costing RM150,000 each for futsal, badminton and sepaktakraw to reduce social problems like mat rempit.
