Qianwei FC leads the way in Nanjing

Wednesday, 09 June 2010

Kuala Lumpur: Qianwei Football Club has set an example in the Nanjing City League despite having limited resources.

One of the best teams in the league, Qianwei FC, formerly known as Nanjing Police Club, has three teams under its belt. Apart from the Nanjing City League First Division, their teams take part in seven-a-side tournaments and futsal competitions.

There are around 30 players registered in Qianwei FC in the Nanjing City League with five of them joining from formidable Chinese Super League outfits Nanchang Bayi and Jiangsu Sainty and Chinese First Division club Nanjing Yoyo.

In the first two seasons of the Nanjing City League, Qianwei FC finished a creditable third and fourth respectively.

They are aiming to reach the top of the 10-team league this year. This season's championship began on April 24.

Established in November 2009, Qianwei FC's seven-a-side team have 14 current police officers. They won five out of five in the Jiangsu provincial championship to emerge champions, beating the likes of Xuzhou and Suzhou.

With ten policemen in their futsal team, Qianwei FC proved to be unbeatable in the Jiangsu province. They were selected by the China Police Department to represent the country in the 10th World Police Futsal Championship to be held in Belgium in July this year.

From an 11-man amateur team to more than 130-member football club, Qianwei FC has proved that nothing is impossible.

Their tremendous achievement has earned the praise from AFC Vision China Project Director Liu Jingsong.

"All the hard work that we have done has come to fruition.

"Qianwei FC has set a great example for everyone to follow, not just in Vision China but in other Vision Asia project cities as well," said Liu.

Vision Asia is AFC’s plan to raise the standard of football across the continent at all levels.

The programme takes in 11 elements of football development, including administration, coaching, refereeing, clubs and competitions.
