Helvecia were crowned as The FA National Futsal League champions for the third year in succession on Sunday, following victory over Southern League rivals Spartans in the Final.

Whilst Spartans actually finished higher than Helvecia in the League this season, it was Helvecia who showed the best form in the Grand Finals in Guildford and used all of their experience to seal an extra-time win.

The weekend got off to a lively start on Saturday, with the opening game seeing Sheffield thump Chippenham by 12-2 in Group A before Spartans followed them in Group B to see off the challenge of Team United Birmingham by 6-1.

It was perhaps a sign of things to come from Helvecia though, as they smashed 12 goals past Chippenham in their first match to bring the competition to an early end for the Midlands representatives in their first trip to the Grand Finals.

Another impressive performance from Helvecia followed as they beat Sheffield by 13-2 to seal their place in the Final and they were duly joined in the showpiece by Spartans who edged past Manchester from Group B with a narrow 5-4 win.

The showdown took place at noon on Sunday and proved a close encounter as the teams couldn't be separated in normal time, with Helvecia eventually victorious with an 11-8 scoreline.

Given the performance of the London-based team throughout the Grand Finals, there can be no doubt that they were deserved winners of the title and with Adriano Hoelzle and Raoni Medina topping the goalscoring charts too, their brand of Futsal should prove to be a fine representation of England in the UEFA Futsal Cup next season.
