Their dream of qualifying for the UEFA Futsal Cup ended in heartache against the top team in the country at Surrey Sports Park in Guildford although they did come away with the Fair Play award.
Sheffield FC Futsal got off to a flying start in the group with a crushing 12-2 victory over Midlands League qualifiers Chippenham FC but then came a painful reality check when they crashed 13-2 to two time National Champions Helvecia.
The London-based club, who included players with vast futsal experience, proved lethal on the counter attack to leave the city side shell-shocked and it was no surprise when they went on to clinch their third successive title courtesy of a thrilling 11-8 victory over league rivals Spartans.
However, Sheffield can take great credit from their performances this season as they sealed their place as one of the top four clubs but ultimately falling short against the best team in the land.
The Fair Play award and the Regional Championship trophy will be on display at Sheffield FC's BT Local Business Stadium in the coming weeks. Sheffield will now focus on the FA Futsal Cup at the English Institute of Sport on September 9, 10 and 11.
