The PeninsulaFutsal referee course for women ends at AspireFriday, 16 July 2010DOHA: A training course for women referees in futsal, organised jointly by Qatar Women Sport Committee and Coaching Association of Canada, concluded successfully at the Aspire Zone on Thursday.
Around 30 local referees took part in the four-day programme, where they received theoretical lectures on the game alongside a series of practical on-field sessions.
At the closing session, the QWSC chief, Ahlam Al Mane distributed certificates among the participants and hailed the productive outcome of the course. Al Mane said that the percentage of participation in the course had exceeded her expectations, a fact that proved the great role women are playing in the field of sports. Al Mane also announced that the upcoming new sport season (2010-2011) will feature the First Women’s Football League at the GCC level.
Meanwhile, Qatar’s Yousef Al Jaber seized a bronze medal in the masters category on the concluding day of the 5th Arab Bowling Championship was held in Cairo, Egypt.
Overall, the Qatari players bagged three bronze medals at the championship which ended on Thursday.
Qatar were joined by Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Kuwait, Bahrain, Palestine, Iraq, Syria, Jordan, Lebanon, Tunisia, Yemen and hosts Egypt in the tournament.
On Wednesday, Qatari team comprising Mubarak Al Muraikhi, Yousif Al Jaber , Khalid Al Dosari, Ahmed Diyab and Abdullah Haroon won the bronze in the team category.
