Soccer NationKUSI TV features special segment on San Diego Futsal Campsby
Diane ScavuzzoSaturday, July 31, 2010San Diego Futsal summer camps are so fun, the campers couldn’t wait to explain why playing futsal is so great to camera crews fromKUSI TV local sports this week. In a special KUSI TV segment featuring San Diego Futsal, founder Mario Mrakovic was interviewed along with several of his campers on what makes futsal so fun.
According to San Diego Futsal founder Mario Mrakovic, “Futsal is fast, fun and is fantastic for leaning skill development. There are tons of 'touches' with the soccer ball, so there is a lot of opportunity for learning and for playing in this fast paced indoor soccer game.” According to Mrakovic’s son Dino “Futsal is the best!” Dino Mrakovic is 6 years old and loves to play futsal. His older brother Luka Mrakovic is shown demonstrating cool futsal moves on the KUSI spot.
Mrakovic said “It was very exciting to have KUSI come out to film our camp. It was a great honor. I know a lot of people watch KUSI and this is a great way for people to learn about futsal. Not enough people know there is a great alternative to playing soccer in the hot sun! And at our camps, Coach Steveo Leacock and I love working with each child, helping him or her learn new skills and improve their footwork.”
Futsal is similar to soccer but is usually played indoors on a hard wood floor (such as a basketball court) and uses a smaller size soccer ball. There are fewer rules, less players and is very fast paced – with many touches on the ball, creating a lot of excitement and higher scoring games than soccer.
