www.uefa.comBoomerang miss out on finalThursday, 27 March 2003Action 21 Charleroi will compete in the UEFA Futsal Cup 2002 final after Interviú Boomerang had the result of their Group A victory against Norilsky Nickel reversed for fielding a suspended player.
Yellow cardsThe Spanish side beat Nickel 11-3 at La Garenne, Charleroi, last Friday, a result which ensured they would finish top of their section and secure a place in the two-legged final. However, Boomerang played Javier Orol Sánchez in the match despite him being suspended for receiving two yellow cards earlier in the competition.
Default victoryThe UEFA Control and Disciplinary Body studied the case today and decreed that a 3-0 victory be awarded to Norilsky by default. The amended Group A table subsequently saw Boomerang, Charleroi and Norilsky tied on six points.
Goals scoredThe triumvirate each won one game against the other and had identical goal differences from their matches against each other, leaving Charleroi to top the table courtesy of their 12 goals scored. Boomerang struck eight goals and Norilsky seven.
Possible appealBoomerang have until midnight on Sunday 30 March to appeal. If they are unsuccessful the UEFA Futsal Cup final will again be contested by Charleroi and Playas de Castellón. The Spanish side won last season's inaugural final 5-1.
