Amit RajFriday, August 13, 2010FIJI'S hopes of winning the Oceania Futsal Championship faded yesterday but coach Hussein Saheb was impressed with the improved performance against the Kiwis.
Saheb was delighted with the team's performance.
"The result doesn't reflect our performance. We should have won this game," he said.
"We created so many chances but were unlucky not to score."
"I'm not worried about the scoreline? It's the performance that was encouraging.
"We didn't have anything to lose here," he said.
Saheb said the championship had served as a positive build-up for the national team ahead of next year's Futsal World Cup qualifiers in April.
He said the way forward now was to firmly establish the code in Fiji.
"For the national team in future we must have a squad that can play and train regularly.
"New Zealand was a good team too."
Meanwhile, the Kurukurus thumped Tahiti 6-2 last night to extend its unbeaten run to four matches.
Captain Elliot Ragomo struck twice while Jeffery Bule, Lenson Bisili, Jack Wetney and Micah Lea'Alafa also scored for the Kurukurus.
