All AfricaCameroon: Futsal Coaches Acquire New Skills27 August 2010This was during a workshop to reinforce the capacity of trainers.
In order to boost the capacity of coaches in grooming athletes for the sport, the National futsal league from august 19 to 21, organised a workshop at the premises of the Advanced school of Post and telecommunication in Yaounde, to reinforce the capacity of the trainers. The workshop which falls within the framework of the vulgarisation of the game is destined to provide coaches right down to the divisional level to detect and nurture young talents in futsal.
The workshop was characterised by theoretical and practical presentations from eminent scholars and football star; the first presentation on the history and development of futsal was presented by the president of the national league himself, Colonel Kitchens, followed by another on the psychology of the player by Professor Ambient. Joseph Bell Antoine established the link between futsal and beach soccer as games played within a reduced space. There were other presentations on the system of play and collective organisation of futsal; the management of a team; physical preparation of players before the beginning of a new season and on first aid.
According to the president of the futsal national league, the training of trainers will be followed by another workshop for journalists on reporting on futsal. He however regretted the lack of support from government saying the University of Dschang which emerged champion of the futsal university tournament, was unable to go for the world futsal games in Serbia because of lack of financial means. Though Cameroon was currently preparing for the upcoming African cup of Nations in Burkina Faso in October 2010, they are not sure of participating without the necessary support from government.
