Carlos AruafuThe mens open futsal league is set to kick off today at the Multipurpose Hall starting at 4pm.
League coordinator and organizer Victor Waii confirmed to Star Sports yesterday that the league will kick off at 4pm with three first matches.
The first team to take the court will be Desttiny Royals and NZ Stormers followed by JC FC and KB Riders and the last match of the day will be between Rocket Boys and Sky Street.
He said forty eight teams have registered to take part in the league.
The forty eight teams will be divided into four pools with twelve teams in each pool.
He added that the league was organized because he saw from the previous league which ended last two weeks that many young kids have shown more interest in the game.
“The league is just another idea of getting the youths together through sports to avoid them involving themselves in drugs and alcohol related problems,”Waii said.
“And also to dig out some of the hidden talents those kids posses,” he added.
The league also includes the recent league champions KOSSA and Sokamora so it will be another exciting and entertaining league with the senior futsal boys and newcomers battling it out for the next 13 weeks of play.
