FIFA Futsal referees course ends in Tripoli

21/09/2010

The Confederation of African Football (CAF) in partnership with world soccer governing body, FIFA organised a FIFA Futsal Referee Course from 15-20 September in Tripoli, Libya.

The five-day workshop was to update and refresh the knowledge of the continent-based futsal referees on the modification on the laws of the indoor five-a-side football game.

It was also to fine-tune the preparations of the referees ahead of the impending CAF Futsal Championship scheduled for 15-27 December in Burkina Faso.

Sixteen (16) futsal referees from Libya, Mozambique, Tunisia, Nigeria, Angola, Cameroon and Burkina Faso took part in the workshop with Spanish FIFA Instructor Jesus Rubio as the Instructor of the programme.

One of the participants, Asselam Khan of Mozambique described the workshop as a success as it enhanced their knowledge of the game.

“The course was very important since we have learnt many new things about the game, and I’m very sure the knowledge will be crucial during the CAF Futsal Championship in Burkina Faso.”

Libya are the reigning African futsal champions after beating Egypt in the final of the 2008 edition on home soil.
