Big prizes await at Borneo men's open futsal

Kota Kinabalu: Up to RM5,000 each will be up for grabs at this year's 2010 Borneo Men's Open and Borneo 7s tournaments, which will be happening here in October and November, respectively.

The Borneo Men's Open, which is an eight-team tournament, will be held at the Penampang Stadium on October 23-24, this year.

Registration is available to club teams within Sabah where a maximum of 18 players per team is allowed. No current Sabah state team or Reserve League players are allowed to enter, while only a maximum of three former M-League players are allowed in a team.

The Borneo 7s tournament on the other hand would be held at either the Penampang or Likas Stadium on November 6-7, this year.

The seven-a-side competition, which will be a battle of 16 teams, would be played on a three quarter sized pitch.

Teams can register a maximum of 12 players with three players aged 35-39, while all other players must be 40 and above. Like the Borneo Men's Open tournament, only three former M-League players are allowed in each squad.

Entry fees for both tournaments is RM500 per team.
