Malcolm HoweTeam Newbury Futsal Club has become the first in Berkshire to be admitted to the FA Futsal National Premier League.
The indoor form of the game is the only one recognised by FIFA, and the Team Newbury set-up sees them kick off in the competition’s Midlands section in November.
They will play in the Midlands Division alongside Cardiff, Chippenham, Hereford, Loughborough, Northampton, Team Bath and Team United Birmingham in a competition boasting a number of former professionals as well as current England Futsal players.
“This is a great achievement for the young club and hopefully will prove to be a springboard to greater things,” said coach Craig Adey.
“We believe we have players that have the potential to represent England at Futsal as well as hopefully a team that can produce some great results over the coming years.”
The club is seeking sponsorship from individuals or companies interested in getting on board for the campaign, as well as any potential players or volunteers, who can make contact by email to teamnewbury@hotmail.co.uk
