Heading north for national futsal tourney

BALLARAT players will feature heavily amongst Victorian teams in next week's Vikings National Schools Futsal Championships in Brisbane.

A total of 14 players and two coaches have been selected to make the trip north.

One of the largest futsal tournaments of its kind in the world, 140 teams and more than 1000 players will compete from across all Australian states and territories.

Representative teams from New Zealand will also participate.

Competition will be played from Monday to Wednesday before Thursday's closing function at Dreamworld on the Gold Coast.

Presentations and the announcement of the all-star team for each age group will be made here.

BALLARAT REPRESENTATIVES

Under-11 boys: Liam Dawson. Coach: Anthony Cocomazzo

Under-12 girls: Naomi Mavrikis, Georgina Eddy, Rebecca O'Dowd, Lily Kerr, Lily Quinlan, Ava Graovac, Olivia Kyatt, Katie McAloon, Kate Lyons. Coach: James Wylie.

Under-13 boys: Tom Callahan, Jackson Leach, Lachlan Dawson.

Youth girls: Catey Wylie-O'Brien
