Warwick Daily NewsWIRAC hosts futsal competition13th October 2010JON Pearson is hoping to more than double the number of players already signed up for the summer futsal junior and senior competitions at WIRAC.
The Warwick and District Football Association president said 40 players signed up at a muster on Sunday.
“We are hoping to sign more players for the first futsal competition being organised by the football association,” Pearson said.
Futsal is also known as indoor soccer and is played by teams of five on an indoor court the size of a netball or basketball court. Each team is allowed three players on the bench.
Games will be played each Thursday to March with the exception of school holidays.
More players are welcome to sign up tomorrow at WIRAC or call Pearson on 0448603860.
Time slots for Thursday afternoon weekly games are 3.30pm to 4.30pm for ages six to 10, 4.30pm to 5.30pm for children 11 to 13, 5.30pm to 6.30pm for ages 14 to 16 and then from 6.30pm for men and women.
Pearson stressed players don't need outdoor football experience to play futsal.
“Players of all ages and skills are welcome including new players to the sport,” he said.
“It is a good chance for players in other codes to keep their fitness up in the footy off season.”
