Essex FA to hold workshops

Friday, 15 October 2010

YOUNGSTERS can learn more about officiating in a Mini Whistlers workshop held by Essex County Football Association.

Charter Standard clubs have been invited to take part in the workshops, as part of Essex FA’s In-Service training programme.

The Mini Whistlers workshop hopes to deliver an introduction to officiating through clubs and schools, to enhance their knowledge and understanding of the Laws of the Game, as well as completing a Basic Referee training course.

It takes place at Shenfield High School, Alexander Lane, Hutton, on Wednesday, October 27, between 10am to 1pm for players aged between 11 to 14 years old.

Another feature of the In-Service programme will be a six-hour Beginners’ Guide to Coaching Futsal course.

This aims to provide those aged 16 or over with an understanding of the skills, techniques and fitness demands of Futsal. This takes place at Anglia Ruskin University in Bishops Hall Lane, Chelmsford, on Sunday, November 7, between 10am and 4pm.

Ian Bent, Essex County FA development officier, said: “In-service training is one of the benefits for our Charter Standard clubs and it provides them with free workshops covering everything from coaching and refereeing to running a club.

“Over the course of each season, we aim to ensure the workshops are appealing for everyone connected to grassroots football, catering for various ages, roles and experiences.”

To book onto either course, download and complete forms available at www.essexfa.com and return it to Ian Bent via e-mail to ian.bent@essexfa.com or by post to Essex County FA, The County Office, Springfield Lyons Approach, Chelmsford, Essex, CM2 5LB.
