People's daily on lineBrazil slams Czechs 9-2 in Grand Prix of indoor soccerOctober 18, 2010In front of their home crowd in Anapolis, Goias, the Brazilian national indoor soccer team, crushed the Czech Republic on Sunday 9-2 in the opener of the VI Grand Prix of Futsal.
The visiting Czechs surprised everyone by scoring the game's first goal in only the 30th second of play. Quickly putting a stopped ball into play, Dlouhy scored his team's only goal of the first half.
Brazil responded quickly, tying the match in the 1st minute when Wilde tapped in a great pass from Vinicius. The home team took the lead in the 2nd minute with a goal from Gabriel. From that point on, the Brazilians never looked back.
Ari scored his team's third goal in the 9th minute, followed by Vinicius in the 13th minute and Fernandinho in the 19th minute.
Returning from halftime, Falcao scored Brazil's sixth goal in the 22nd minute, followed by Wilde in the 33rd minute.
The Czech Republic scored their second and last goal of the game just seconds after Brazil's seventh goal. A great individual play by Stverak gave his team a moral boost, but it was not enough to corral the Brazilians.
As the match was coming to a close, Brazil scored twice more. In the 37th minute, Falcao knocked in a rebounded ball off a Cesar Paulo. In the 38th minute, Falcao rolled the ball off to Cesar Paulo who then tapped it in for the game's last goal.
Brazil returns to play in the international tournament on October 18 against Costa Rica. The finals of the tournament will be held on October 24.
