Macarthur AdvertiserCity Quake rattle up the Vipers20 Oct, 2010CAMPBELLTOWN City Quake Futsal battled it out against Mascot Vipers in round five of the Futsal Premier League to claim 16 club championship points.
Playing at their home ground this week at Minto Indoor Sports Stadium, Quake managed five wins, one draw and three losses.
The under 12 boys had a slow start and Quake found themselves 2-0 down.
The Quake boys came back and by half-time the score was 3-3. In the second half it was very close and either team could have taken the points but it was Quake who won by the slightest margin with the final score of 5-4.
Liam McGing and Anthony Haddad scored two each and Phil Hasiuk got one for Quake.
The under 12 girls had a game headed for a draw when in the last minute Quake slotted home the winner to maintain their undefeated record.
The score was 2-1, Quake goals to Lauren Featherstone and Hannah Voloder.
The under 14 boys succumbed to a 5-3 loss with Sebastian Malfara, Matias Da Silva Santos and Ben Rodriguez scoring a goal each for Quake.
The under 14 girls were up against the competition leaders and held them to a 2-2 draw.
Ruby Mosca and Laura Murtagh put away one goal each.
The under 16 boys had an exciting 5-4 win. Leading 3-1 into the second half, the team let their guard down and conceded three unanswered goals.
However, Quake fought on and managed to score a fourth goal to equalise and with 25 seconds left Jake McGing scored again to take the win.
Daniel Nelson and Jake McGing scored two each and Daniel Araujo claimed one. The under 16 girls went down 4-2 with a nice double scored by Quakes Katherine Hawker.
The Youth men lost 4-3 in a game Quake may come to regret.
Quake were leading 3-0 into the second half when Vipers recoiled and scored four goals to steal the win out from under Quake.
Quake goals to Brendon Riley, Matt Trotter, Bruno Antelmi.
The Women's team had a comfortable 7-1 victory to remain undefeated in the competition.
Linda Dudek scored a hat trick, Caitlin Jarvie scored two, Claire Walsh and Stephanie Haim each got one. The men's team hammered Vipers 7-3 with James Pearce earning two and one each to Shane Soutter, Dean Lockhart, Mark Symington, Sahand Jahani and Jake McGing.
Campbelltown City Quake will play round six against Sydney City Eagles on October 23 at Bankstown Basketball Stadium.
