Carlos AruafuWednesday, 20 October 2010SOLOMON Airlines Terminal Services last week Friday donated 14 new pairs of uniform to the Sokamora Futsal Club at the KG Six rugby pitch.
The donation of the new uniforms came after a request from Sokamora futsal club to the Airline Terminal Services.
This is the first for Sokamora this year.
The uniforms were handed over to the club players by the Solomon Airlines Terminal Services Chief Executive Officer Obed Hodogari witnessed by two of his staff Daga Tama and Leric Tito.
Hodogari on behalf of the Solomon Airlines Terminal Services said his office were proud to assist the boys from Makira/Ulawa province.
He said his office replied positively to the request because they wanted to help in developing sports in the country in encouraging youths to get involved in sports to keep them away from criminal activities.
Hodogari said that they felt that they have an obligation to help youths as future leaders of the country through sports because sport is a tool of unity despite our different racial backgrounds.
“The donation of uniforms I hope will act like a stepping stone in the team’s future endeavors”, he said.
Meanwhile, a Sokamora futsal team official thanked Solomon Airlines Terminal Services for their support.
The team’s president said Sokamora is a newly formed futsal club and they have so far made a lot of acheivements.
He said the new uniforms will certainly boost the team’s morale especially when competing in the upcoming competitions.
“I believe with the new sets of uniforms the boys will train more and win more competitions”, he said.
Currently the Sokamora futsal team has won all six matches in their pool in the current mens open category competition.
In the last competition Sokamora made it through to the finals, but were unfortunate to beat KOSSA in the finals.
