Gladstone ObserverAnnika kicks off big tour21st October 2010 Toolooa State High School student Annika Maloney Cutler joined the Australasian futsal team in Brisbane last week to embark on the sporting tour of a lifetime.
Despite her enormous talent, 14-year-old Cutler could not believe it when she was invited to take part in the National Schools Vikings Futsal United Kingdom tour.
It has always been a dream of mine to play in England, Cutler said.
Cutler's mother, Nyree, is excited about her daughter's opportunity to extend her indoor soccer skills, but is also thrilled she will get the chance to experience the culture of another country and visit the home grounds of famous English Premier League clubs Manchester United and Manchester City.
Principal Alan Whitfield said the Toolooa State High School community was extremely proud to have such a talented player chosen as a national representative on the 2010 tour.
Throughout the tour the Year 10 student will visit many areas in the United Kingdom, spending time at coaching clinics with Rhyl FC and Everton at Finch Farm.
The side will also compete in a series of futsal matches against a variety of foreign opponents throughout the trip.
A tour of the Manchester City training facility and the opportunity to watch a match at Old Trafford the home ground of Manchester United are among the highlights.
Although the team will be busy playing football and accumulating a wealth of knowledge from European experts there will be time for them to enjoy some cultural experiences in Harlech, Chester, York and London.
