Puspa FC Claim Pakistan's Flood Victims Futsal Gold

Bandar Seri Begawan - Muhd Maududi Hilmi Kasmi's brace guided Puspa FC to a 3-0 win against DAF FT in the final of the Humanitarian Fund for Pakistan's Flood Victims futsal tournament last night.

The DPMM FC and AH United midfielder opened the scoring just after the breather but a fracas between the two teams delayed the game at the Multipurpose Hall of the Hassanal Bolkiah National Sports Complex in Berakas for nearly 10 minutes.

Both teams were temporarily cut down to four men after the fight and Majra FC captain MdJulremi Hj Zaini nearly took advantage of the space by doubling Puspa's lead seconds after the restart, denied valiantly by the DAF goalkeeper who came off his line.

It didn't matter because Maududi made it 2-0 seconds later when a pass from MdJulremi sliced open the defence and saw Maududi through on goal, easily beating the goalkeeper in the ensuing one-on-one.

Md Julremi also played an important part in the first goal.

His shot was saved by the goalkeeper, who out of his line, had no chance at saving Maududi's shot from outside the box.

Firafadzli Adini Hj Abdul Ghani ensured the win after a superb solo run on the right. Though he had two teammates calling for the ball in the box, his decision to shoot

paid off handsomely as he scored past the DAF goalkeeper's near post.

DPMM FC and Indera FC midfielder Sairol Hj Sahri was another strong presence for Puspa, but his impact on the left was severely cut short by DAF.

DAF were not without star power of their own, though DPMM FC striker Shahrazen Hj Md Said looked a shadow of his former self. Lacking the first touch and killer

finishing which characterised his time at Brunei's only professional club and saw him end the 2007/2008 Malaysian Super League as joint top scorer, Shahrazen was also another player who failed to live up to his billing.

Credit must be given to Puspa goalkeeper - and Firafadzli's brother- Firafaizzakiyy for keeping out a stinging shot from Shahrazen in the second half.

In addition, he only picked the ball out of his net once in the team's six games.

The win is just the revenge Puspa was looking for after losing to DAF 1-0 in the group stage.

Universiti Brunei Darussalam FT edged Kota Junior FC 1-0 to clinch third.

The Director of the Department of Youth and Sports Hj Mohamad Panglima Asgar Dato Paduka Hj Abdullah presented prizes to the winners.
