OFFICIAL MATCH REPORT
Libya kicked off the 1st Mediterranean Futsal Cup in some style tonight, winning by a staggering 14 goals in their 16 - 2 victory over a surprisingly lack luster Syria side.
After a spectacular opening ceremony, Libya controlled the game from the start and deserved to be 8-0 in front at the break. With some slick passing moves and lethal finishing, Syria were well and truly stunned and welcomed the halftime buzzer.
Things didn’t get much easier for Syria after the break and they quickly found the Libyan team too clinical in front of goal, although things did improve slightly in the second half for Syria, the Libyan team were far too strong. At times the Libyan team passed the Syrians to death and at times didn’t know how to cope with the flowing, rotating play of the Libyan team.
Hat-tricks from Suleiman, Elshwain and Shahout ensured that Libya dominated the score line and in doing so, played a high pressure game, reducing Syria to very few chances. The Libyans refused to let Syria have any time on the ball and created chance after chance with some dominating spells of possession.
The fans will be left very happy after this showing from many people’s favourites for the Cup and have been a complete joy to watch this evening.
Most Valuable Player 6 Rabie A. Abdelrahim said "I am very happy with the outcome of this match and we are looking forward to the next one"
