Greece vs Morocco 1-1

1st Mediterranean Futsal Cup ...
Greece vs Morocco

OFFICIAL MATCH REPORT

by James Stringer

A game of two halves
In a close game at the African union hall, Greece and Morocco both had to settle for a draw. It took a devastating counter attack from Morocco to take the lead. It was Derrou Aziz who scored after leaving the Greek defence exposed at the back for the first goal of the game. He overlapped his teammate to open up the perfect angle to score. He had been close on several occasions in the first half and played with a lot of confidence.

Artinos Panagiotis levelled the match with a stunning shot from close to 18m that seemed to have unsighted the keeper and hit the back of the net. It had been coming as Greece came out looking to win the game in the second half and had a greater hunger than the Moroccans.

Delaportas Ioannis and Ait Moulay Mahjoub both got yellow cards for their respective countries and a point blank save from Panaou Thomas kept Morocco in the game in the closing moments. A draw was, on reflection, a fair result for this game and the first of the tournament.

Most Valuable Player Derrou Aziz said “the facilities and the venues are great, they are really looking after us. The opening ceremony was amazing.”
