Umbro Vs, which is inspired by the culture clash between 5-a-side football and futsal.
Umbro’s design team compared and contrasted the home of football (5-a-side played in England) with the spirit of football (futsal in Brazil). Each item in the collection was designed after interviewing people in Sao Paulo and Manchester to understand the culture that surrounds and feeds into their respective games. Their feedback gave the team vital inspiration, ensuring that all the items in the
Umbro Vs range fit the specific requirements of the futsal and five-a-side games.
Made up of striking t-shirts, jackets and footwear, the
Umbro Vs range fuses style with performance – it works just as well off the pitch as it does on it. So whether you’re about to take on your mates in a game of five-a-side, or go for a drink with them afterwards, the Umbro Vs range is the perfect product. The range on sale in the UK features apparel in a black and yellow colour palette to represent Manchester, and footwear in greens and blues to reflect Sao Paulo.
The Umbro Vs range will be available in store from September 1st, and includes the following line up:
• The smart, sleek fitting track jacket is tonal and features a ribbed panel at the neck. This piece combines sporting performance wear with street style
• The ¾ length pants are made out of a tough woven fabric, but with softer panels on the back of the knee to aid flexibility
• Inspired by the black pellets that feature on plenty of five-a-side pitches in the UK, the graphic t-shirt is sure to catch the eye
• Built with pass control zones, asymmetric lacing and a guard to prevent the entry of surface pellets, the new 5v5 performance shoe will become a small sided game must-have
The new Umbro Vs range is being launched on ten different characters that have been created by legendary street artist and cartoonist
Todd James (a.k.a. REAS). Representing Manchester and Sao Paolo, the characters have each been given their own personality based on real life characters from the two cities who were interviewed as part of the Umbro Vs design project.
