Morocco vs Syria 9-1

1st Mediterranean Futsal Cup
Morocco vs Syria

OFFICIAL MATCH REPORT

by James Stringer from Tripoli

Syria came within minutes of sealing a point in their last game, the closest they have ever come to securing a result in Futsal, they started brightly but fell behind to a goal from Khoukh Bouchaib after just over a minute had been played. Syria pressed for an equaliser but were undone again 4 minutes later when the ball was worked well on the left and Khoukh Bouchaib was there to fire the ball home from just over 10m out.

Morocco really started to take charge and quickly found the net again thanks to Habil adil. The ball was knocked around the box and eventually found it’s way to the Moroccan player and he made no mistake from just over 10m. Syria had the best effort of the half when Kaddour Yaser had a rasping effort that was just over the bar from a good 15m. After that though the Moroccans turned on the style and broke quickly at Syria, leaving Derrou Aziz the chance to score his first goal of the night.

Habil Adil then hit the post and Kaddour Yaser smashed a free kick just wide of the far post for Syria before Bouabid Mohamed scored a goal under the keeper to increase the lead further. Syria looked to be one on one moments later as the Syrian, Estanbolli Mohamad, ran clear of his half, Bouabid Mohamed tripped him as he was clear and received a yellow card for his troubles. El Mazray Youssef was the next Moroccan to get a goal as the first half came to an end.
The second half started as the first did with Morocco pushing Syria into playing in their own half, they have chance after chance, Habil Adil had a great chance but missed contact with the ball as he ended up in the back of the net instead of the ball, it was a difficult chance though so we’ll let him off. Estanbolli Mohamad has a shot for Syria that just cleared the cross bar, they pressed again and again pushing further up the pitch and were unlucky not to get a goal before Morocco scored again. Morocco broke forward in numbers and had several chances, some hitting the bar and all of them saved except for Bouabid Mohamed’s shot that flew into the back of the net form close range.

Morocco were firmly on top in this game and Khoukh Bouchaib scored twice from close range in the space of a few minutes and then came the moment Syria had been waiting for, the chance to score from the penalty spot. Estanbolli Mohamad stepped up to take it and thumped it into the back of the net. Then with seconds left they ran forward and somehow the ball managed to go anywhere but the goal and was cleared and run down the line as the buzzer sounded. Most Valuable Player Khoukh Bouchaib said after the game “I like this game because you need to be really quick andhave good technical ability, I am happy with all of this”.
