BORO FUTSAL BOSS CALLING FOR FANS TO MAKE SOME NOISE AGAINST EAST COASTMiddlesbrough take on league newcomers in season opener and want a bumper crowd at Thornaby
Middlesbrough Futsal Club kick off their fourth season in England’s top Futsal League on Sunday 21st November against East Coast Futsal Club from Scarborough, who are new to the top flight this season. Boro will host East coast at Thornaby Pavilion on Sunday, kicking off at 1.30pm. Entry is £1 for everyone and Chairman and Manager Damon Shaw is urging people to come and watch.
Middlesbrough will want a strong start to the season but East Coast will not be an easy ride as they will be enjoying a historic moment of their own. They played Boro at Thornaby at the start of their existence and have come a long way since then under leadership of Steve Brennan and he will go head to head with Damon Shaw once again.
Damon Shaw is currently in Tripoli, Libya where he is covering the 1st Mediterranean Futsal Cup for the Libyan Futsal Federation and he would love to see a similar crowd to those in Libya at Thornaby.
“The atmosphere in the hall here even with 150 fans is incredible. They love it here; they are entertained by the atmosphere and the futsal. They bring instruments and sing songs and it lifts the team. When Libya enter the pitch the noise is incredible. If we could start getting half this level of support for Middlesbrough it would be a massive boost for the club on and off the pitch.
Bring a friend and make some noise“Anybody who comes will love it, I am confident of that, especially kids who can really get into it. Futsal is such a good sport to watch and we have three international players and some good young, skilful players and we know how to entertain.
“People should take a chance and come to Thornaby on Sunday (21st Nov). It’s only £1 in, just to help the club keep going and cover hall costs, but for the level on show that’s nothing. If anybody brings a drum, or any instrument it will make for a cracking atmosphere and the players will react well.
“The squad is looking good for the coming season with a few new faces from the university plus the added experience the boys gained from last season as well as Robbie’s (Bettson), Mikey’s (Roberts) and Jason’s (Kilbride) experience with Great Britain.”
