Torin ChenCLAUDIA Cholakian is kicking goals on the futsal court and the soccer field.
Claudia, 14, of Chatswood, has been nominated for the North Shore Times Junior Sports Star Awards.
After competing for the NSW under-14 team in the Vikings National Futsal Tournament, Claudia was one of five girls chosen in the National All-Stars honours team.
The year 8 Roseville College student was one of four girls from the school in the NSW side.
Earlier, Claudia and schoolmates Emily Brown, Ellie Moscou and Melissa Kwong led Roseville to first place in the Vikings Northern District Futsal Schools competition.
They went on to finish runners-up in the NSW Champion of Champions event.
Representing NSW for the second time, Claudia netted 14 goals at the national championships.
``It was pretty good and each time I scored, I was just determined to score more,’’ she said.
In the outdoor game, Claudia captained Roseville’s junior firsts team which won this year’s IGSSA competition.
An under-14 Northern Tigers representative, Claudia was selected in the under-14 Far Metropolitan North team which won the state title.
She is a shadow player for Project 22, an elite talent identification program for girls in the under-15 division.
Claudia, who is hoping to play for the Inter Lions in the Premier League next season, said she enjoyed both forms of the game.
``For now, I’d like to play both,’’ she said.
``But further down the track it will have to be soccer because there’s more opportunities in soccer than futsal.’‘
The North Shore Times Junior Sports Star Awards are sponsored by North Sydney Leagues.
