Nottingham Schools Ready for Futsal Action! Secondary Schools in the City of Nottingham are gearing up for the launch of the first edition of Nottingham City Schools Futsal Cup Series. The Futsal Cup Series is a programme devised in partnership between the City School Sport Partnership Competition Manager, Marc Birkett, Nottinghamshire County FA and Nottinghamshire Schools FA.
The Series is a 3 year programme which starts with Year 7 Boys and Girls competition in December and each following year an extra age group will be added, in line with the FA National Junior Finals. In order to promote the sport within schools for every entry there will be a free taster session delivered by South Notts College Students, who have all recently completed the Basic Futsal Course.
'The launch of this Futsal Cup Series is a huge step forward for the development of the game in Nottingham. Its been great working in partnership with County and Schools FA to develop a full strategy and investment into the game'
'The work does not stop with the Year 7 competition this year, in the new year we will see the delivery of U10's boys, U14 & U16's Boys and Girls open county events and the finals of the Year 7 competition. The winners of these events will progress through to the East Midlands Youth Futsal Festival and then the FA Finals.' Added Marc Birkett, Competition Manager.
Over 30 schools are expected to take part in the whole programme for 2010/11.
