Webb makes Australian Futsal side

Jayden Webb will represent Australia at an international futsal event in Spain next year.

JAYDEN Webb is young, agile and stylish, and has a dream of being the next big thing in Australian football.

To keep in shape for football year-round, in his off-season he pops on his boots and takes to the futsal courts, a game that he has taken to the next level.

His skills shone at the recent Queensland trials, where he played for the South West team and was selected out of all the under- 14-year-old school students across the region to represent Australia.

The next step for this Warwick State High School Year 8 student is stepping on a plane to Barcelona, Spain, for an international event from May 2-19, playing for the Australian Vikings.

Jayden’s prime positions are in attack on the right wide or pivot, where he loves to set up a goal or take the challenge on himself.

“It is pretty exciting,” he said with a big grin.

“Everyone thought they had already picked the teams after the final and then a couple of weeks later I got a letter saying I was in.”

Jayden said that although he loved futsal he preferred being out on an open field and kept up the off-season sport to keep his skills honed.

“I want to be a Socceroo if I get the chance. It would be great,” he said.

While in Barcelona, Jayden will train at the La Liga Futsal Club, as well as watch the club’s games and battles against other Spanish clubs.

A highlight will be watching the professional games, not to mention a spot of sightseeing.
