Robert Jarni in action ...
Robert Jarni, famous Croatian football player, who won the 3rd place with Croatia on the World Cup in France 1998, signed for croatian Futsal champion Split Gasperov a month ago. He already played 4 matches for new club which all finished on Split side and helped their team-mates to win 3rd consecutive national crown.
He will also be on the disposal of coach Mato Stankovic to take 3rd consecutive double crown, since Split Gasperov reached 1/4 final of national Cup.
Professional career of Robert Jarni was outstanding and successful. He played for the most famous football clubs such as Juventus Torino and Real Madrid and was participant of 3 World Cups - Italy 1990 with former Yugoslavia, France 1998 and South Korea & Japan 2002 with Croatia - and 1 European Championship - England 1996 with Croatia. He also won the World Championship U-21 1987 in Chile with former Yugoslavia.
Jarni started his career in Hajduk Split ('86-'91) where two national Cups have been taken ('87, '91), then went to Italy where played for 3 teams: Bari ('91-'93), Torino ('93-'94) and Juventus ('94-'95) when won double crown . Then, he found Spain as his further destination, where also 3 different shirts have been wearing: Betis ('95-'98), Real Madrid ('98-'00) - Intercontinental Cup ('98) - and Las Palmas ('00-'02). Finally, he played 6 months in Greece for Panathinaikos 2002.
With his 35 years of age, he is still in good shape and probably will continue his football career in September, but this futsal episode shows his intentions when professional career once finished and he is the most famous football player who ever officially played futsal.
