and the objectives of the Futsal Introductory Coaching Course (level 1).
A Player of the Match award will be instituted in the AFC Champions League and this will be open to all players, including non-Asians. The selection will be made by the AFC’s Technical Study Group.
Similarly the AFC Cup and AFC President’s Cup will have an award for Player of the Match. The selection will be made by the Match Commissioner and confirmed by the technical analysts. This award will be open to non-Asians too.
A Player of the Tournament accolade will also be given out in the AFC Champions League, AFC Cup and AFC President’s Cup. The award is open to non-Asians and the selection process is the same as the one currently in place for the Player of the Year.
The current AFC Player of the Year criteria was also discussed and it was recommended that the prevailing system should remain unchanged but to include the achievements of the players/teams from the very beginning.
The committee also approved that Fair Play points be factored in for the AFC Player of the Year award with 10 points being deducted for a red card and five points for a yellow card. In case of a tie-break between strikers and midfielders, the number of goals will be considered.
The committee affirmed that the award would be given only to Asian players.
All decisions of the standings committees need to be ratified by the AFC Executive Committee, which meets on Wednesday.
